Foundation-funded Investigator Honored for Mental Illness Research Achievements
NARSAD Distinguished Investigator Grantee Ezra Susser, MD, DrPH, has been awarded the 2011 Rema Lapous Award by the APHA (American Public Health Association). The Rema Lapous Award recognizes scientists that have made outstanding contributions to the field of epidemiology: a branch of medicine that deals with the causes, distribution, and control of disease in populations.
Over the course of his illustrious career, Dr. Susser has led studies that have significantly increased our understanding of the epidemiology and control of brain and behavior disorders, with a focus on psychosis and schizophrenia. Dr. Susser is professor of psychiatry at the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University and the New York State Psychiatric Institute.
