2019 Young Investigator Grant
Hanan El Marroun, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor, Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Sciences
Department of Psychology, Education & Child Studies / Clinical Psychology
Dr, Marroun's research area focuses on the short and long term consequences of maternal and fetal health on brain developmental features, including behaviour and cognition, as well as brain morphology and connectivity. From a developmental origins of health and disease (DoHaD) perspective, non-optimal health during the specific critical period in early life (e.g. due to prenatal exposure to substance use, medication, stress and disease) may have potential long term consequences on health and (brain) development later in life.

Our
Impact
Beginning in 1987, the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation was providing seed money to neuroscientists to invest in “out of the box” research that the government and other sources were unwilling to fund.
