NARSAD Artworks Featured Artwork of the Week: Taos by Connie Witt English
Connie has been painting since she was 11. She studied art in high school and college, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree from Kansas State University.
She has a broad palette, painting depictions of landscapes, animals, people, and still life. She derives particular joy in painting chickens, and in 1976 received her first of many awards for “Chicken Study” (and other paintings) in Taos, New Mexico. She was also recognized for her work by the Miami NewTimes in 1997, where she was described as having “an astute eye for movement and a sense of composition that makes the chickens come alive, seemingly engaged in Animal Farm chatter, telling stories among themselves.”
With a diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder, Connie feels that her art provides her great solace and enjoyment. She resides in Kansas City where she uses her creativity not only to continue to paint but also to teach children and adults.
