2018 Young Investigator Grant
Tory Anne Eisenlohr-Moul, Ph.D.
Professor, Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Neuroscience
The University of Chicago
Tory Eisenlohr-Moul, PhD, is a Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience at the University of Chicago and a licensed clinical psychologist. She directs the CLEAR Lab and provides clinical care to patients experiencing menstrual mood disorders. Her research asks why some female patients experience severe emotional changes, suicidal thoughts, and suicide attempts that track the menstrual cycle. Through a series of NIH-funded, double-blind clinical trials (the CLEAR trials), her team has shown that, for some patients, stabilizing hormone fluctuations can prevent menstrual spikes in suicidal thinking. She is a 2018 BBRF Young Investigator Awardee. Her long-term goal is to develop personalized treatments for cyclical mood disorders, matched to each person's hormonal triggers.

We Are
The Brain & Behavior Research Foundation is a global nonprofit organization focused on improving the understanding, prevention and treatment of psychiatric and mental illnesses.
Our
Impact
Beginning in 1987, the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation was providing seed money to neuroscientists to invest in “out of the box” research that the government and other sources were unwilling to fund. Today, Brain & Behavior Research Foundation is still the leading, private philanthropy in the world in this space.
