Trained in clinical psychology and in psychiatry, Dr. Wagner has achieved international recognition for her work in helping to explain and treat childhood mood disorders, including depression and bipolar disorder. Her research has advanced understanding that mood disorders in children are serious conditions that can profoundly impact quality of life into adolescence and adulthood. Dr. Wagner’s major impact has been in the study of pharmacological treatments, but there has been controversy concerning the potential danger of the use of antidepressants. Her research is aimed at clarifying the pros and cons of pharmacological treatment for the young.

Dr. Wagner completed her residency in psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at McLean Hospital.
