Foundation NYC Symposium Commentator Speaks of Neuroplasticity on “Big Think"

Scientific Council Member Dennis Charney, M.D., who will be the commentator at the Foundation’s 24th Annual Mental Health Research Symposium on October 26th, is currently featured on the website Big Think. The goal of Big Think is to help people "move above and beyond random information, toward real knowledge, offering big ideas from fields outside your own that you can apply toward the questions and challenges in your own life." His latest post is titled "Neuroplasticity: You Can Teach An Old Brain New Tricks.’

Dr. Charney is Dean of Mount Sinai School of Medicine, Professor of Psychiatry, Neuroscience, and Pharmacology & Systems Therapeutics, and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs of the Mount Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Charney is regarded as one of the nation's foremost investigators in the neurobiology and treatment of mood and anxiety disorders and pioneered research in depression, anxiety, and human resilience to stress. He has been featured on the PBS series This Emotional Life. Dr. Charney has written over 700 publications. His latest book is Resilience: The Science of Mastering Life's Greatest Challenges.
