The Brain & Behavior Research Foundation awards several prestigious prizes to physicians, scientists, and public citizens.
The Foundation's Klerman and Freedman Prizes are awarded annually to Young Investigators for their outstanding contributions to mental health research.
The Klerman & Freedman Prizes recognize exceptional clinical and basic research conducted by NARSAD Young Investigator Grantees. The Prizes are named for Gerald L. Klerman and Daniel X. Freedman, two neuropsychiatry pioneers who played seminal roles as researchers, teachers, physicians and administrators.
The prizewinners are selected by committees of the Foundation’s Scientific Council, a volunteer group of 173 distinguished scientists in brain-related research disciplines.

FREEMAN PRIZE
The Outstanding Achievement Prizes are awarded to scientists recognized for outstanding research leadership and contributions to mental health research. These annual prizes include: The Lieber Prize for Schizophrenia Research, the Colvin Prize for Mood Disorders Research, the Ruane Prize for Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Research, the Goldman-Rakic Prize for Cognitive Neuroscience Research, and the Maltz Prize for Innovative Schizophrenia Research.

Pardes Humanitarian Prize in Mental Health recognizes a physician, scientist or public citizen whose extraordinary contribution has made a profound and lasting impact by improving the lives of people suffering from mental illness and by advancing the understanding of mental health.
