“My mother was diagnosed with schizophrenia when I was a little boy. She lost custody of us. I was raised by my dad. No one even told me my mother was mentally ill. Things have changed enormously since then.” ─ Joel E. Kleinman, M.D., Ph.D.

Joel E. Kleinman, M.D., Ph.D. has dedicated his career to understanding the development of schizophrenia and how it can be better treated, and one day perhaps prevented.  A personal connection has fueled his passion and longstanding commitment to the field, where his significant contributions continue to open avenues for novel research.
