Dr. Aaron T. Beck, Foundation Distinguished Investigator, invented cognitive behavioral therapy decades ago and now demonstrates that it can successfully treat the ‘negative’ symptoms of schizophrenia, such as emotional flatness, listlessness and isolation. “… This is not like therapy for depressives … These people do not get better; no one had any good therapy for them,” he explains.

What available main stream for the Schizophrenic whose positive symptoms are well controlled to the point of taking care of ADL's, keeping appointments, etc. However, negative symptoms still present.....difficulty socializing while wanting make friends, apathy, inability to stay focused, disconnection of thoughts.
This is very interesting as my mother suffers from this and she has been going to cognitive behaviour therapy for the last 18 months with fantastic results, she does it with someone else so she does not fell alone which helps. www.breakdowncoveroffers.org
